About your care.
What it is. Glaucoma care aims to protect the vision you still have by monitoring optic-nerve health and treating the condition when needed. Glaucoma may develop without noticeable early symptoms. Treatment cannot restore vision already lost, so your doctor uses examination findings and follow-up tests to guide an ongoing care plan. Looking for an initial check? How it works. Assessment may combine eye-pressure measurements, an optic-nerve examination, visual field testing, and OCT imaging. These tests provide different information; pressure alone cannot determine whether you have glaucoma. Depending on the diagnosis and response, your doctor may discuss prescription drops, laser treatment, or surgery to lower pressure.
How to prepare. Bring your eye drops, medicine list, and previous scans or visual field results. Tell your doctor when you last used your drops and whether you have difficulty using them or experience side effects. Continue prescribed treatment unless told otherwise. Ask whether dilation is planned and arrange transport if needed.

Why book if I can still see well?
Glaucoma may have no noticeable early symptoms. An examination and appropriate tests help your doctor assess your risk or monitor an existing diagnosis.
Will I need surgery?
Not everyone does. The recommendation depends on the type of glaucoma, your results, and the response to treatment.
Should I stop my drops before the visit?
Continue prescribed treatment unless your treating doctor tells you otherwise. Bring your medicines and tell the doctor about any side effects.
Can lost vision be restored?
Glaucoma treatment cannot reverse existing vision loss. The goal is to protect the vision that remains and reduce further damage.
