About your care.
What it is. Dry eye care starts by finding out why the surface of your eyes is not staying comfortably lubricated. Symptoms can include grittiness, burning, watering, or fluctuating vision, but similar symptoms can have other causes. Your doctor assesses your tear film and eyelids before recommending a plan that fits the findings.
How it works. A slit-lamp microscope allows your doctor to examine the eye surface and eyelids. Depending on the concern, a small amount of dye or other tear tests may help assess tear stability and production. Care may include lubricating drops, eyelid care, or prescription treatment, with follow-up to see how your eyes respond.
How to prepare. Bring the eye drops and medicines you currently use, and tell the team about contact lenses, screen time, air-conditioning, or situations that make symptoms worse. Note what you have already tried. Ask whether any products or lenses need to be left out before testing; do not change prescribed treatment without your clinician’s advice.
